Rohde Nielsen wins major contract
Rohde Nielsen A/S wins two contracts for dredging works in the port of Nakskov.
Nakskov Port has in a natural step to facilitate it’s own development decided to deepen it’s approach channel and harbour basins. The entire project consist of two contracts whereas contract no. 1 which also is the largest consists of capital dredging of the approach channel and harbour basins.
Before initiating capital dredging within the harbour a clean up of contaminated sediments must be carried out. This involves environmental dredging and depositing of polluted sediments into Nakskov Port’s old dry dock, which in the past have been used for the now closed shipyard.
As Scandinavia’s main dredging contractor Rohde Nielsen A/S has been chosen to carry out both contracts during 2008. The approach channel is 13 km long and must be deepened from -6,3m to -8,5m. The harbour basins must be deepened to -7,5 and -8,5m. To ensure optimal performance Rohde Nielsen A/S has deployed the bucket dredger Ajax R and a number of backhoes, all supported by barges, multicats and survey vessels.
As a natural step in our strive for perfection Rohde Nielsen A/S always has the client needs in focus and through open communication seeks to hand over the best result possible. This of course to our client’s satisfaction as well as to maintain Rohde Nielsen A/S as the natural choice for future works.
